  • my drypoint print

so this is the second traditional printing we got to try out. what is this? well, you carve into a plastic sheet with a needle-thingy (the thing on the first image) when you’re done carving on your plastic sheet; take a roller and paint on top of the sheet, wipe away the excess paint but be careful not to wipe away the paint in the cracks of the carving. dab some water on a blank sheet of paper, put the paper sheet on top of the plastic sheet, and use something that really flattens them together (i used some sort of machine we had in class, but you can just put something really heavy on top of your paper+carving)

feel free to experiment with more colours, the sheet is easy to clean my washing it by hand with water and soap. :)

Off topic; I decided to make this my March contribution, because I don’t think I will have time to do a whole new drawing before this month is over, plus I’m actually kind of happy with how this assignment turned out.

  • We’ve worked a bit more on our dolls today. If you’re a movie fan, you can probably guess which movie they are from. Our dolls finally have hair! We were originally going to go with some more realistic-looking hair from wigs, but that would be really difficult to work with since it moves on its own. Paul told us to just go with clay, and so we did. I’m still really paranoid that the dolls might fall during shooting and then the hair will get all flat by being mashed against the table. :(

But at least it look kind of nice! Hah. :)

And yes, my doll is super creepy. Her head kind of cracked open during the heating of the head (last week), and it left her looking as if she was some freak from some kind of creepy low budget horror flick.

We will hopefully get them some eyes, lips and shoes next week - and then we can finally start with the other half of the project, which is the part where we have to be extra careful and really patient.

  • I am finally finished with my school project! :D The assignment was to plan a story board on three panels - and then to make an animation according to the plan you had made earlier.

When I was sketching on my story board I was inspired by the saying “when you go to heaven, all the people that you’ve lost will be there - waiting for you” and as you see, a little girl walks into “heaven” and the first person she meets is her father. (:

The project took a lot of time to finish. It isn’t as well done as I would like it to be, but that’s because I had to hand this in at a certain deadline, so there wasn’t as much time as I would like there to be. If you look carefully then you might also notice that the sound might be a bit off-sync from the motion and that’s because I rushed with the audio system - I just really wanted to finish this animation! I’ve been working on it for quite some time so I just wanted it to be over with so I could hand it in before my deadline.

    Thanks for watching! :)

  • I personalized a birthday card for Marnix, who’s birthday is today - so happy birthday Marnix~! C:

I was was inspired by this card. I never make anything hand crafted for other people (except for drawings), so this was a really tricky challenge for me, especially when I don’t own any pro tools to work with. But after an hour or two - I managed to make it somewhat decent.. I think. :)

The inside of the card is just some corny crap about our friendship, the distance between us and of course - an unicorn. The front of the card is inspired by that time Dwight in The Office made a really dull birthday-banner for Kelly’s birthday. Marnix loves Dwight, so I hope he will like the card. :D♥
